International Dialogue Values for Development
October 2007 - With the initiation of the International Dialogue on Values for Development; Towards a Life-Sustaining Civilization, which took place in October 2007, a platform is provided to explore and find a (new) universal set of values for development by applying creative thinking and communication methods in dialogues among participants with a wide area of
influence in societies.
The particpants of the Xi'an Dialogue were welcomed by Mr. Zhao De Quan, Deputy-Governor of Shaanxi Province and Mr. Atem Ramsundersingh, Chairman CE-DESD. Furtheron the Xi'an Dialogues were enriched by contributions in the form of key notes, interviews, video messages, international panel conversations, round table dialogues, plenary sessions in which participants share their views and values and outputs on the walls of inspiration.
The dialogues were further enlighted by the presence and presentations of Dr. R.F.M. (Ruud) Lubbers, Former Prime Minister of The Netherlands, and Former UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Ms. Kao Su-Mei Chin, Legislator/Member of the Legislative Yuan (Taipei), His Royal Highness Prince Carlos de Bourbon de Parme of The Netherlands, Lama Gangchen, Mr. Liu Sui She, Vice-Director Regional Economy Department, China Development and Reform Commission, Ms. Ginette-Ursule Yoman, National Secretary of Prime Minister's Office, Cote D'Ivoire, Ms. Claudia Sobrevila, Senior Biodiversity Specialist, The World Bank, Mr. Alfredo Sfeir-Younis, President of the Zambuling Institute for Human Transformation/Former Director of the World Bank Office in Geneva and Mr. Frank Bracho, Venezuela, Former Ambassador of Venezuela to India and Adviser to the South Commission.
The dialogues in Xi'an created the platform of the International Dialogue on Values for Development; Towards a Life-Sustaining Civilization which aims to contribute to the implementation of building a Harmonious World.
